why! oh why, does it the long weekend have to be over? le sigh. 

sorry in advance for this post i’m inspired to write Pepe Le Pue style — roll with it. 

there is is another reason for my seeming le francophilie today. Many of you have probably (not) seen the recent news of the student protests going on in Montreal at the moment.

for those of you who haven’t, here is the jist of it: essentially, the Quebec government wants to increase tuition at province run institutions. while south of le border, down by US this would have probably gone unnoticed as we are already INCREDIBLY screwed, our French amants north of the border weren’t as pleased with the whole ordeal and have been protesting for WEEKS. now, the provincial government has moved to suspend the right of assembly and the right of protesters to wear red squares — the symbol of the mouvement. ISN’T THAT INSANE! 

well, anyway, this is just ridiculous and has to stop. for once a student movement stands up and says that our generation REFUSES to be f*ed over anymore, and subsequently almost gets plowed over by the government meant to ehmmm protect it? that’s absurd. just think though, if this somehow works in Quebec, it’s essentially the coming out party of our generation — the generation that has been maligned by creditors, wracked by student loans, screwed by unpaid internships, and perpetually in the pursuit of a non-retail job. how amazing would it be for them to succeed.
